Why is it used in products?
Skincare brands market it as a detoxifying, skin-brightening ingredient packed with growth factors and antioxidants.
Why does it clog pores?
Chlorella's cell wall fragments can physically clog pores, and its extract forms a protein-rich film on the skin that blocks sebum flow. It also contains growth factors that may stimulate excess keratinocyte production in the follicle. This leads to a buildup of dead cells that plug the pore opening.
