Colloidal Sulfur
Also known as: Precipitated Sulfur, Sulfur
What is Colloidal Sulfur?
Finely divided elemental sulfur particles suspended in a liquid medium, used in dermatological treatments.
Why is it used in products?
Sulfur has antibacterial and keratolytic properties that help treat acne, rosacea, and seborrheic dermatitis.
Why does it clog pores?
Ironically, colloidal sulfur used to treat acne can actually worsen it for some people. The fine particles can physically accumulate in and around pore openings, forming plugs. In the colloidal form, these particles are especially prone to depositing inside follicles where they create blockages rather than clearing them.
