Dulse
Also known as: Palmaria Palmata, Sea Lettuce Flakes, Dillisk
What is Dulse?
An edible red seaweed (Palmaria palmata) harvested from northern coastlines, with a high protein and mineral content.
Why is it used in products?
It's used as a nutrient-rich extract that provides vitamins, trace minerals, and amino acids to skincare products.
Why does it clog pores?
Dulse has a significant iodide content that can trigger acne flare-ups by inflaming the follicular wall. Its polysaccharides leave a residue on skin that impedes normal pore drainage. Products containing dulse may cause unexpected breakouts even in otherwise gentle formulations.
