What is Glyceryl Stearate SE?
A self-emulsifying (SE) form of glyceryl stearate that contains a small amount of sodium or potassium stearate to improve its emulsifying ability.
Why is it used in products?
It's an easy-to-use emulsifier that creates stable, creamy formulations and doubles as an emollient and skin-conditioning agent.
Why does it clog pores?
Glyceryl stearate SE forms a lipid film on skin that can occlude pore openings and trap sebum. The self-emulsifying component helps this film adhere more uniformly to the skin surface, making it harder to wash off. It rates as moderately comedogenic in dermatological testing.
