What is Kelp?
A general term for large brown seaweeds of the order Laminariales, some of the most mineral-rich marine plants on Earth.
Why is it used in products?
It's packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making it one of the most popular marine ingredients in skincare.
Why does it clog pores?
Kelp species contain extremely high levels of iodides — one of the most well-established acne-triggering substances in dermatology. The alginates in kelp also form an occlusive gel that physically blocks pore drainage. For acne-prone skin, kelp in any form is best avoided entirely.
