Why is it used in products?

Why does it clog pores?
Laminaria Saccharine contains high iodide levels that inflame hair follicles and promote comedone formation. Its mannitol and alginate content create a hygroscopic film that swells on the skin and blocks pore openings. Acne-prone skin is especially reactive to this kelp's iodide load.
