What is Linseed Oil?
An oil derived from the seeds of the flax plant (Linum usitatissimum), rich in alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3 fatty acid).
Why is it used in products?
It's valued for its omega-3 content and skin-conditioning properties, used in moisturizers and natural skincare lines.
Why does it clog pores?
Linseed oil has a moderately comedogenic fatty acid profile and can oxidize quickly on the skin, creating a sticky residue that blocks pores. Its thick consistency leaves an occlusive film that prevents sebum drainage. The oxidation products can also irritate follicular walls and worsen breakouts.
