What is Mineral Oil?
A colorless, odorless oil derived from petroleum, consisting of a mixture of hydrocarbons. One of the most widely used cosmetic ingredients in history.
Why is it used in products?
It's incredibly cheap, stable, and creates a powerful moisture barrier — making it a go-to for everything from baby oil to cold cream.
Why does it clog pores?
Mineral oil creates an airtight occlusive seal over the skin that prevents any sebum from escaping pores. While cosmetic-grade mineral oil is more refined, it still forms a non-breathable layer that traps dead cells, bacteria, and oil inside follicles. For acne-prone skin, this is the definition of a pore-clogging nightmare.
