What is Peanut Oil?
An oil pressed from peanuts (Arachis hypogaea), containing a mix of oleic, linoleic, and palmitic fatty acids.
Why is it used in products?
It's an affordable emollient used in moisturizers and some pharmaceutical preparations for its skin-softening properties.
Why does it clog pores?
Peanut oil has a moderately comedogenic profile due to its oleic acid content, which disrupts the lipid balance in pores. It creates an occlusive film that can trap sebum and dead cells. Additionally, its heavier molecular weight makes it slow to absorb, leaving a pore-blocking residue on skin.
