PEG 16 Lanolin

What is PEG 16 Lanolin?

A polyethylene glycol derivative of lanolin designed to improve lanolin's solubility and reduce its sticky texture.

Why is it used in products?

Formulators use it to get the moisturizing benefits of lanolin in lighter-feeling, more elegant formulations that blend easily.

Why does it clog pores?

Even with PEG modification, this derivative retains enough of lanolin's occlusive nature to block pores. It leaves a film on skin that interferes with the normal flow of sebum out of follicles. Acne-prone skin is especially susceptible to breakouts from this ingredient.
