A polypropylene glycol ether of cetyl alcohol with 10 moles of propylene oxide, used as an emollient and solvent.

Why is it used in products?

It provides a smooth, silky feel and helps dissolve other ingredients, improving the overall texture of formulations.

Why does it clog pores?

PPG 10 Cetyl Ether deposits a cetyl alcohol-based residue on skin that creates an occlusive film over pores. The polypropylene glycol chain helps this residue spread and adhere uniformly. This ingredient is moderately comedogenic and can contribute to pore congestion in leave-on products.
