Sesame Oil

Also known as: Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil, Gingelly Oil

What is Sesame Oil?

An oil pressed from sesame seeds (Sesamum indicum), rich in oleic and linoleic acids with natural antioxidant properties.

Why is it used in products?

It's used in Ayurvedic skincare and massage oils for its deeply moisturizing and warming properties.

Why does it clog pores?

Sesame oil's oleic acid content (about 40%) can disrupt the lipid lining of pores and promote comedone formation. Its relatively thick consistency creates an occlusive barrier that traps sebum inside follicles. It also has a moderate comedogenic rating that makes it risky for acne-prone skin.
