Shark Liver Oil
Also known as: Squalus Acanthias Oil, Squalene Oil
What is Shark Liver Oil?
An oil derived from the livers of deep-sea sharks, rich in squalene, alkylglycerols, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Why is it used in products?
It's valued for its high squalene content and immune-supporting alkylglycerols, used in healing and moisturizing products.
Why does it clog pores?
Shark liver oil is heavy and highly occlusive, forming a thick barrier over pores that prevents sebum from draining. Its lipid-dense composition essentially adds a second layer of oil over already oily skin. For acne-prone individuals, this creates ideal conditions for comedone formation.
