Soybean Oil

Also known as: Glycine Max Oil, Glycine Soja Oil

What is Soybean Oil?

An oil extracted from soybeans (Glycine max), containing linoleic acid, oleic acid, and phytosterols.

Why is it used in products?

It's a widely available, affordable emollient with antioxidant properties, commonly used as a base oil in skincare formulations.

Why does it clog pores?

Soybean oil has a moderately comedogenic fatty acid profile that can block pores in acne-prone skin. Its emollient film traps sebum and dead cells inside follicles. The phytoestrogens in soybean oil may also influence sebum production, potentially worsening hormonal acne.
