Wheat Germ Oil
Also known as: Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil
What is Wheat Germ Oil?
A thick, nutrient-dense oil extracted from the germ of wheat kernels, exceptionally high in vitamin E and octacosanol.
Why is it used in products?
It's used for its potent antioxidant vitamin E content and skin-nourishing properties, popular in anti-aging and dry skin products.
Why does it clog pores?
Wheat germ oil is one of the thickest, heaviest plant oils used in cosmetics, creating a dense occlusive layer over pores. Its high oleic acid content disrupts follicular lipids and promotes comedone formation. It also oxidizes rapidly, and the oxidation byproducts further irritate pore walls.
